Join us before the next School Board meeting to demonstrate our community’s concern about the Superintendent search. We want a transparent process that respects the value of public input, removes barriers that limit it, and incorporates public input into decisions. We strongly believe that the problems of our corporation are educational and require a superintendent who is an experienced educator.
Dear South Bend community member,
If you recognize that a strong and healthy system of public education is critical to a thriving community, we ask you to join us on Tuesday, February 16th, at 4:30 pm, in front of the SBCSC Administration Building. We plan to rally there to demonstrate our community’s support for public education. The choice of the next superintendent is critical to the survival of our school corporation. South Bend Schools have many strengths — talented children, dedicated teachers, and exciting programs, but it is a corporation that is in trouble. We are losing our students. They are dropping out, being kicked out, or leaving for other schools. There is a public education crisis in South Bend.
The Board of Trustees will allow public comments at the February 16th meeting, which begins at 5:30 pm. It is not yet clear whether it will be during the discussion of the superintendent search or whether it will be during the public comment session at the close of business when the radio broadcast is turned off. All comments are limited to three minutes in length and it is our experience that the time limit will be strictly enforced. You must sign up before 5:30 to speak, whether during or at the end of the meeting.
We encourage you to attend the meeting and offer your comments and we'll end the rally in time for you to do so. Please add your voice, your issues, and your presence to the rally. Help us to save public education in South Bend. Help us to ensure that there is transparency in the process. Help us to ensure that the voice of the community is heard and impacts decision-making.
