Mar 20: It’s Never Too Late!

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE!
          — TO EARN YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
          — TO COMPLETE A GED PROGRAM

  • Do you have your diploma or GED? Do you know a neighbor, friend, or relative who is not a high school graduate?
  • 40,000 residents who live within a 10-mile radius of South Bend are no longer in school but do not have a high school diploma.

WHY DOES A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA MATTER?
According to a 2017 report from “America’s Promise Alliance,” high school graduates are more likely to be employed, with a higher income.
They

  • earn a national average of $8,000 more annually compared to high school dropouts,
  • are less likely to engage in criminal behavior or require social services,
  • have better health and a longer life expectancy,
  • are more likely to vote,
  • contribute to America’s national security because students that leave high school without a diploma are not qualified to serve in the military.

The nation’s economy depends on skilled labor. Business leaders report difficulty in finding enough qualified employees with the skills, training and education to meet their companies’ needs.
