ST. JOSEPH COUNTY OFFICIALS TO DISCUSS PROPERTY TAX ISSUES
Indiana
property taxes provide the greatest overall income to our state, with
almost all of the proceeds going to fund local government.
A
public forum on Tuesday, March 19 will provide information about
property taxes in St. Joseph County, answering questions about
– how properties are assessed and why your assessment may have changed last Fall,
– the use of tax sales to collect delinquent tax revenue,
– why a Land Bank is proposed as part of South Bend's plan for vacant and abandoned properties.
A
panel of St. Joseph County elected officials will respond to these and
other questions from local residents. The panel includes
— County Assessor Rosemary Mandrici
— County Auditor Peter Mullen
— County Treasurer Mike Kruk
— Rafael Morton, President of the St. Joseph County Council
— Andrew Kostielney, President of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners
