April 2: Community Forum Meeting on Payday Lending

John Kang, CEO Jubilee Initiative for Financial Inclusion

Panelists will discuss: The impact of Pay Day Lending on the vulnerable and marginalized in our community, why people take out payday loans, problems with internet lending, abusive collection tactics, and how borrowers come to accept unfair terms through exploitative and deceptive actions for loans that borrowers don’t want or can’t afford.  Additionally, panelists will discuss what actions to take and who should take them to address the situation.  Should we look to business, non-profit organizations, government regulation, or a combination of the three? Recent legislation will also be examined. There will be plenty of time for questions following presentations. Come. Join us.
