THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 14, IS OPENING DAY FOR THE 2014 URBAN GARDEN MARKET
The Urban Garden Market is a farmers market, open on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm at 2806 Lincoln Way West (LWW & Eclipse), in the parking lot of our sponsor, The St. Joseph County Minority Health Coalition. On Wednesday afternoons, we'll be at 2015 Western Avenue, in the Marycrest Building Parking Lot, from 3 to 6 pm. The first Wednesday market will on June 18.
The Urban Garden Market is licensed to accept SNAP/EBT benefits and has been approved to accept WIC and Senior Farmers' Market Checks.
The Market provides the West Side community and customers throughout Michiana with a place to buy fresh produce, direct from producers, in a friendly and open-air environment. It also provides backyard gardeners, small farmers, bakers, artisans and crafters with a direct market for their goods. Most of the vendors from last year will return and they will be joined by new vendors for the opening of our 6th season. Martin's Greenhouse will be with us for the first couple of weeks selling bedding plants, herbs, annuals and perennials. Check out the market website: www.urbangardenmarket.blogspot.com for weekly information about vendors, special events and to see which fruits and vegetables are ripe and ready for eating.
On Saturday, we have two special events scheduled. The Minority Health Coalition will sponsor a ♥ Heart Healthy Dance from 11 am to 2 pm. There will be an hour each of Salsa Dancing, Zumba and Line Dancing with basic instruction given (however, all levels can participate. In addition, a health educator from the St. Joseph County Health Department will be on site with delicious, healthy Salsa (the kind you eat). Come and join the fun!
