Jan 17: Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration

25th Martin Luther King Community Service Breakfast & Day of Celebration

The Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation and South Bend Heritage Foundation are excited to announce plans for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Recognition Breakfast and day long Holiday Celebration. The 25th Annual Celebration will take place on Monday, January 17, 2011 and is coordinated by the MLK Foundation and SBHF. Activities will be held throughout the day beginning with the Annual Community Service Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the South Bend Century Center. The celebration will continue with programs, workshops and seminars culminating with the special Celebration of Music and Praise.

Last year’s event was one of the largest to date and we hope to exceed those numbers this year.  The celebration is funded through charitable donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals who volunteer both their time and resource to support unity and solidarity among community leaders and residents. The 2011 Community Service Recognition Breakfast celebration speaker will be Mr. Tracy Graham, Founder and Managing Principle of Graham Allen Partners. He will speak to the day’s theme “Achieving the Dream”. The annual Drum Major for Community Service awards will be presented by Mayor Stephen Luecke and Mayor Dave Wood during the breakfast program.
The deadline to purchase tickets for the breakfast is January 7, 2011.  A breakfast registration form is here: Download MLK Breakfast and Ad Book Registration
In the past, the Community Forum has reserved a table at the breakfast.  After you send in your registration to the MLK Foundation, email Teresa Marcy tmarcy@saintmarys.edu if you would like to sit with Community Forum members.  Also notify Teresa if you can spend some time at the CFED information table during the day.
