FIFTH ANNUAL COMMUNITY FORUM ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT — IMPROVING OUR QUALITY OF LIFE
        Saturday, March 27, 2010       9 am to 4 pm         IU South Bend, Wiekamp Hall 1001

There is no registration fee but advance registration is requested so that an adequate number of lunches can be ordered.  The cost of the lunch is $6 and can be paid on the day of the event.  To register for the Forum or for additional information contact sjc.cfed@gmail.com or leave a telephone message for the Community Forum for Economic Development at 574-287-3834.

COMMUNITY PANEL
Murray Miller (Laborers International Local 645), Josh Bowling (Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center), Oletha Jones (South Bend NAACP), and Ryan Dvorak (Indiana State Representative) will introduce topics central to the success of local development efforts.

Session 1: How can we increase local hiring for economic development projects?
Session 2: What is the community's role in job creation?
 
"STRONG NEIGHBORHOODS"
Session 1: What community initiatives could spark revitalization in our neighborhoods?
Session 2: How could a strong network of neighborhood organizations help build a vibrant community?
 
"HEALTH AND EDUCATION"
Session 1: Are our children being prepared for successful employment?
Session 2: Do all residents of our County have equal access to healthy food?
 
"PUBLIC POLICY INITIATIVES"
Session 1: How can public policy help to create good jobs?
Session 2: How do non-elected decision makers affect local economic development?
