Participate in Activities of the Community Forum

WANTED!
We need your support and participation in on-going activities of the Community Forum.  Here are some of the ways you can help.

1. The planning committee for the 2010 Spring Forum has
been formed.  This year will be our Fifth Annual Forum, once again held
at IU South Bend's Weikamp Hall, on Saturday March 27, 2010.  Join the
planning process by contacting Kimber Sorenson-Brugh, ksorensonbrugh@memorialsb.org.

2. The 2010 Income Tax Season will soon begin. The CFED is an active partner in the Tri County Tax Team,
organizing Free Tax Preparation sites throughout the community.  You
can help by becoming an IRS certified tax preparer, by being trained to
assist at the tax preparation sites as a greeter or screener, by
helping out at United Way 2-1-1 scheduling appointments, or by
assisting with outreach activities.  To learn more about joining this
project contact Teresa Marcy,  tmarcy@saintmarys.edu.

3. Work with the Responsible Tax Abatement Coalition to
ensure that public subsidies for economic development result in
measurable benefits to our community.  The current focus of the
coalition is the proposed revision of the South Bend Tax Abatement
Ordinance.  To join this effort, contact Marty Wolfson, mwolfson@nd.edu.
