White Like Me: Screening & Discussion

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

6:00 PM (Registration at 5:30)

St. Joe County Public Library, 304 South Main Street SB

Based on the work of acclaimed anti-racist educator and author Tim WiseWhite Like Me, explores race and racism in the U.S. through the lens of whiteness and white privilege. In a stunning reassessment of the American ideal of meritocracy and claims that we've entered a post-racial society, Wise offers a fascinating look back at the race-based white entitlement programs that built the American middle class, and argues that our failure as a society to come to terms with this legacy of white privilege continues to perpetuate racial inequality and race-driven political resentments today.  Join us for a screening and discussion of this groundbreaking documentary!

Spiral Up! and the South Bend Human Rights Commission are cosponsors of this event. Experience this immersive learning project based on the It Is Well With My Soul curriculum to increase community awareness of issues of race, racism, and privilege in America.  This event is free and open to the public!
