On July 22, 2016, Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced that all City employees (including part-time, seasonal, and temporary) would be paid a minimum wage of at least $10.10 an hour.
The Community Forum for Economic Justice, at its June 2017 meeting, discussed a proposal to require companies receiving tax abatements from the City of South Bend to pay their workers a minimum wage at least as high as the minimum wage paid to all City employees.
