Community Forum to Discuss Environmental Initiatives June 17

The June meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, will be a PUBLIC FORUM:
   
Local Initiatives to Meet Global Challenges: South Bend’s Efforts to Protect the Environment.
The meeting will be held from 7 – 9 pm, at the Office of the Minority Health Coalition, 915 N Bendix (in LaSalle Square).

Presenters:

Gary Gilot, South Bend’s Director of Public Works, will review ways that his department addresses global warming as it manages streets, water, sewer, and trash services.  He also will address plans for higher density development within the City.

Christine Fiordalis, Chair of the Michiana Group of the Sierra Club, will review the history and current status of the Cool Cities Initiative, a program that has been endorsed by over 800 local governments, including the City of South Bend.
