Periodically, we receive requests for support for projects that
address the mission of the Community Forum for Economic Development.
We do not have the resources to respond to all of these requests as an
organization. You may, however be interested in becoming involved in
these activities. There are two such requests to communicate today
— one from Linda Hopkins and Hardie Blake from Project Impact and the
second from Marguerite Taylor from the Northeast Neighborhood Council,
Inc. (NENC).
1) From Linda Hopkins, Project Impact:
Attached is information provided by Project Impact South Bend, Inc.
regarding the Major Opportunities Pre-Apprenticeship Training being
offered at Ivy Tech Community College in South Bend. This training is
an excellent opportunity for women and minorities to receive
valuable education that will allow them to increase their employability
and their economic security.
Informational sessions will be held at the Project Impact
offices, 55501 Moss Road, South Bend, Indiana 46628 on the following
dates during the month of July. You are invited to attend one of these
sessions if you or someone you know is interested in obtaining
education that will allow them to earn a living wage through employment
in the construction trades.

Please feel free to pass this information along to those
individuals who might benefit from it. To be eligible for these
services, participants must fit the following criteria:
– minorities and women seeking education and job opportunities in the construction trades
– 18 years of age and older
– drug free
– possess a high school diploma or GED
– possess a valid driver’s license
